TECGEN® PPE, a Fire-Dex brand, is dual certified to 1951 (Technical Rescue) and 1977 (Wildland), offering firefighters a lightweight, breathable 1-layer alternative to structural turnout gear for use on the 90% of calls that are non-structural fire related. The patented TECGEN® fabric allows body heat to escape while the patented TECGEN® fiber gives the gear advanced flame resistance and provides incredible radiant heat protection (RPP).

The innovative TECGEN® fiber was developed with next-generation FR technology and is primarily used in garments for wildland and technical rescue firefighter applications, as well as manufacturing, transportation, mining, oil and gas and energy utility operations.  In 2009, the first TECGEN® fire services products were commercialized and UL certified to exceed NFPA 1951 (Technical Rescue) and NFPA 1977 (Wildland Firefighting). While TECGEN® garments were originally designed to address the risks of heat stress in warm climates, TECGEN® products are now used by thousands of departments in a variety of climates and weather conditions. Today, TECGEN® PPE is fast becoming a top choice of first responders.

TECGEN® PPE became a Fire-Dex brand in September of 2015.  Fire-Dex, located in Medina, Ohio, is a leading manufacturer of head-to-toe protection for 1st responders.  Fire-Dex was formed in 1983 after the acquisition of Morgan Protection Apparel in Rome, Georgia; a manufacturer of welding and firefighting gloves, including the Fire-Dex glove, which the company would soon be named after. Visit our History Timeline to learn more about Fire-Dex's journey.
