• Speak slowly and use simple language.
• Use concrete terms.
• Repeat simple questions.
• Allow time for responses.
• Give lots of praise.
• Do not attempt to physically block self-stimulating behavior.
• Remember that each individual with autism is unique and may act differently than others.
