During your lifetime, it’s likely that you’ll walk approximately 115,000 miles. That’s like circling the globe on foot over four times. This fact becomes significant considering that 36% of injuries on the fireground are related to strain, sprain, or muscular pain. Footwear impacts your comfort, foot health, and overall performance. It plays a vital role in preventing discomfort and maintaining optimal foot conditions.

BEST-IN-CLASS BREATHABILITY

The FDXL90 underwent rigorous testing that not only meets Gore’s standards but exceeds NFPA requirements. Tested was the performance of the entire system, comprising of upper materials and linings. The FDXL90 proved flawless under a range of conditions for overall breathability and waterproof performance.

The whole boot breathability test is a crucial step in the footwear qualification process that any new design must pass to gain approval for production by Gore. During this test, shoes are placed on artificial feet that simulate perspiration, then placed inside a climate chamber to measure vapor diffusion and absorption. This two-pronged approach ensures that all components work in unison to deliver comfort for each intended use. Due to the combination of its high-quality components, the FDXL90 boot exceeded the Gore whole boot breathability requirements by 175%.

To test waterproof performance, the FDXL90 was put through three tests at Gore, the Walking Simulator, Wicking Test, and Centrifugal Tester, exceeding minimum requirements.

1 review for FDXL90

  1. Lieutenant Daniel Mills, Escambia Fire

These boots have performed very well in terms of grip, dexterity, and function. While walking, climbing, and crawling, they do not cause any irritation or pain. I have worn them all day on a few occasions while teaching at the fire academy in place of structural boots during non-live fire events and my feet stay dry. Overall, I give these boots a 5-star rating and definitely recommend them to coworkers.”
